WHO ARE WE?
WHAT IS KRAV MAGA?
KME is the brain child of two fitness and self-defence enthusiasts – Adam Mrocki and Andy Sapir – Over their collective decades of training and teaching, the guys have been exposed to a number of martial arts and self defense systems – but the primary focus of their enthusiasm is Krav Maga. The classes and training offered at their Hawthorn headquarters also go far beyond that, offering great insight into Reality Based training systems and Prey / Predator mindset. KME also offers fitness based classes under their own specially titled “Combat Fit” and classes for kids “Young Warriors” and “Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu".
Highly trained staff are ready and prepared to create a one stop training centre that can cater to advanced emergency personnel and martial arts purists, as well as the most humble beginner off the street, looking to improve his or her health and general well being.
Krav Maga is a close quarters combat system which was specifically designed for use by the Israeli military, special forces and counter terrorist police units – most famously by Mossad and Shin Bet. The guiding principle for behind the Israeli Defence Force training ( IDF training ) program was that it had to be easy to learn in a short period of time, and easy to remember afterwards. This was achieved by utilising our own instinctive human movements, and incorporating our natural threat responses.
Krav Maga was created by Imi Lichtenfeld, a soldier in the Israeli Defense Force. In his youth, Imi competed in wrestling, boxing and gymnastics and later studied Judo and Jiu Jitsu, but during the 1930s he bore witness to violent uprisings in his hometown, and realised that his skills did not adequately equip him for the threats he faced on the street. It was then that he developed his fundamental principal: “Use natural movements and reactions for defense, combined with an immediate and decisive counterattack.” This kernel of an idea evolved further to become “simultaneous defense and attack”, and it is with this principle in mind that Krav Maga has developed into a highly effective personal protection system, being adopted by both military units and civilian populations around the world. With a philosophy that combines and balances neutralisation with aggression, students are taught to avoid confrontation at all costs, but when physical attacks are inevitable to end the conflict as quickly as possible.
